Science

Science is the systematic study of the physical world and includes the study of the inorganic and organic world. The science field has several sub-disciplines, including physics, chemistry, astronomy, geology, biology, and psychology. The biological sciences, for example, deal with the study of organisms and their behaviour. On the other hand, the social sciences look at the social aspects of human behaviour.

Science is a complex process involving systematic observations and experimentation in the lab. These observations are subsequently translated into knowledge, which is organized in testable explanations of observable phenomena. The scientific method of observation and experimentation has been around for millennia. It is often credited to the ancient Greeks, who were attempting to explain how events in the physical world occurred by examining natural causes. These theories were sometimes years or decades ahead of their time.

The scientific method of observation and experimentation is the most obvious but not the only one. There is a growing interest in interdisciplinary research. This is an increasingly valuable approach to innovation. It is a step toward tackling problems holistically, reducing the likelihood that a single disciplinary approach will miss an important insight.
